The difference between the two tools I have is a simple one. The C2 has a corkscrew and the S2 has scissors. Other than that, the tool selection is identical with the same pseudo needlenose pliers with integrated wire cutters, can/bottle opener attachment, and main blade on the outside and a selection of screwdrivers (three flatheads and a phillips head) on the inside with a folding lanyard ring. For the life of me, i still don't understand a folding lanyard ring, but I am certain it made perfect sense to someone.
The Juice C2 and S2 models are very similar except for the corkscrew and scissors
One of the main things that seem to attract folks to the Juice series of tools is the color. While my C2 is grey (along with 90% of multitools on the market) it is a nice powder coated grey, while many of the other Juice models are bright colors. The S2 for instance is bright orange, and there are also models in purple, red, blue and yellow. Definitely eye catching.
Brightly colored, the Juice models are hard to miss
The downside of the Juice models is the price. They seem quite pricey, with two of the models costing over$100US. This is a pretty hefty price for a small multitool, especially when there are many other mid and fullsized multis with a broader range of tools available for the same price or less.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the Juice models do not include a sheath. Two sheaths are available from Leatherman separately. First is a polycarbonate clip type sheath similar to the ones offered with many cellular phones these days, and the other is a nice leather affair. I have only got the leather one so I can't comment on the plastic clip, but I will say that the leather sheath is excellent. (Please see the Polycarbonate Sheath Review ) Leatherman has always made nice rugged leather sheaths in the past, but this one, like the rest of the juice lineup, is quite a departure from the norm. The sheath is lighter and has elastic sides to accommodate the various models comfortably, and is designed so that the tool can be inserted and secured either open or closed. Anyone who works with messy or awkward materials will appreciate this feature.
The leather sheath is available separately and well worth the money. This sheath accommodates the Juice both open and closed.
Overall, I give both the C2 and S2 a four out of five.
- Compact, yet versatile
- brightly colored
- despite froofy look, they are good solid tools ready to work.
- No sheath included
- Folding lanyard ring?
